October 2009

Welcome to the second e-update from ACFA!

Conference 2009
As you all should know by now, the 2009 ACFA Conference will be held at Hothorpe Hall in Leicestershire on 18 & 19 November. There are still places and en-suite rooms available but the deadline for getting your booking forms and cheques to me is Monday 2 November. Fees are £100 for members, £110 non-members for the whole conference (including meals and accommodation); £40 for members, £50 for non-members for the second day only (including lunch). Prices have been held at last year's rates even though the cost of the conference to ACFA has increased slightly.

We would love to see over 50 delegates at this year's conference. So if you are hesitating, don't! …And do feel free to bring a guest along with you. You can access the agenda and booking forms by clicking the following link: christianfinancialadvisers.org.uk/events/

We have one or two members travelling to the conference by plane. If anyone would be willing to offer a lift to one of them from either Birmingham International Airport or East Midlands Airport, please could you let me know as soon as possible? Do also let me know if you need help with organising transport to or from an airport.

Craigmyle Guide – special offer for ACFA Members
ACFA members can take advantage of a special discount offer for the new and completely revised edition of the Craigmyle Guide to Charitable Giving and Taxation. Published by Craigmyle, the UK's longest-established fundraising and communications consultancy, the Guide is a one-stop guide to tax-efficient giving, including details of Gift Aid, gifts of shares, sample HMRC forms and straightforward examples. This comprehensive handbook can help you whether your clients are considering making donations themselves or are charities whose fundraising needs to be as tax-efficient as possible.

Since its foundation in 1959, Craigmyle has built a distinguished track record of helping churches and Christian charities through successful campaigns across the UK, and the Guide to Charitable Giving and Taxation has become a trusted source of practical help and financial insight across the charity sector.

The Craigmyle Guide plus the first year's updates and bulletins normally costs £45.00, with all subsequent bulletins and updates provided for an annual £19.50 subscription. But Members of ACFA can buy the Guide (including the first year's updates) for just £40.00 – and there is a 21-day approval period for you to see if it meets your expectations.

For more details of the Guide itself or to order your copy, visit craigmyle.org.uk/tax.htm. To take advantage of the discounted price, enter the discount code ACFA when prompted on the order form.
